Tommy Fury is dead set on making 2022 his best year yet - with or without Jake Paul.

The Love Island and YouTube stars have been feuding online recently amid talk of a crossover fight.

Fury, 22, is expected to be back in action against an as-yet unnamed opponent in London on the undercard of his older brother Tyson Fury's all-British clash with Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium on April 23.

And while he realises he will never be able to shake off the stigma associated with that show, he wants to be recognised first and foremost for his boxing in the years to come.

"Yeah, definitely. I mean, it's always going to be that way and I'm fine with it, you know, it is what it is," Fury told GiveMeSport.com.

"But you know, everything Tyson has done in his career, you know, I'm looking to emulate, definitely.

"I mean, it's just pure motivation for me, and it's definitely something I'm looking to do in the future.

"I've always said from being a young kid, my main goal is to be a world champion, and I won't stop until I've accomplished that, you know.

"Everybody can tell me 'no' along the way and they already did about so many things but I've proven so many people wrong already.

"So at the end of the day, I don't care what anybody says about me, I will be a world champion one day.

"I'm 22 years old, I've got the world at my feet, and that's it, we're on that long journey."

Fury fought three times in 2021, most recently outpointing American MMA fighter Anthony Taylor on the undercard of Paul's first clash with Tyron Woodley last August.

And he has now confirmed he wants to go one better than that as he revealed he would like 'a good three or four fights under my belt'.

He added: "I think for someone with seven professional fights, very early on in his career, I think that's very doable.

"But again, we have to sit tight, that's why I'm keeping myself in decent shape.

"So whenever I'm needed to fight, even if I was called to fight right now, right this minute, I'm ready to go.

"That's how I intend to stay all year round so I'm able to take those fights when they crop up."

Fury has himself teased a boxing match with KSI in the past and called for a 'Battle of Britain' with his British rival.

But it seems he is firmly leaving that behind him as he focuses on his career as a professional boxer.

He inisted: "Yeah, I don't really care because everybody's got an opinion. You know, everybody's got an opinion.

"I know where I'm going in my career, I know what I've got to do, and I know what goals I've got in my head.

"So I don't care about the KSIs or Jake Pauls of this world. I'm focused on Tommy Fury. This is my year and I'm going to make it my year."
