The Premier League is the most-watched sports league globally.

No matter who you talk to, wherever you are in the world, everyone has heard of it and, in the majority of cases, they will no doubt have an affinity to one of the 20 teams in the illustrious competition.

Every week, the world's greatest footballers take the stage to play in front of humongous stadiums packed to the brim with supporters cheering on their side.

But away from the terraces, every fan loves to analyse the game and argue on whether their manager got the tactics right before dishing out the banter to rival fans.

And that banter can sometimes be savage.

Especially since the rise of social media, where football fans are now more readily able to share their opinions through Twitter and Facebook, some supporter groups may have become more vocal than others.

On that note, betting company Online Gambling have conducted a survey into which Premier League football club has the most annoying fans on social media.

Collecting their data from 2,000 supporters of clubs playing in the English top-flight, they have ranked each team by the proportion of votes their fanbase has received.

And there are several big clubs sitting at the top of the table.

8. Aston Villa - 3.7%

7. Leeds United - 3.8%

It is no surprise to see four of the League's biggest and most successful football clubs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea topping the undesirable rankings.

They are four of the biggest sporting brands in the world, and seeing as they can attract such a large fanbase on social media, it is understandable why many might get frustrated with their fans on Facebook and Twitter.

Interestingly at the bottom of the list come West Ham, who are another of English football's biggest clubs, but are topped by Brighton who were promoted to the Premier League in 2017 and have interestingly gained 2.4% of the vote.

Leeds and Spurs follow next, with 3.8% and 5.1% of the study believing these fans are the most annoying on social media, while Manchester City complete the top five with 8.0% of supporters voting for them.

Their rivals, Manchester United, round off the top three with 15.4% agreeing that the Old Trafford faithful as some of the most annoying supporters on the internet.

And at the top of the table, Liverpool and Arsenal are separated by a meagre 0.2% of the vote, with the 2019 Premier League champions just edging the north London side.

But interestingly, it's not the only rankings table that Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United top, with Online Gambling also reporting that these clubs have been voted the top three most disliked teams in the League.
