Cristiano Ronaldo was Manchester United's star man in their 3-2 win over Tottenham on Saturday night. While much doubt has recently been cast over the 37-year-old striker's future at the club, he certainly proved his doubters wrong, scoring a hattrick of goals to get the Old Trafford crowd on their feet during the match. Galvanising his team, his first-half wonder strike broke the deadlock for the home side, belting a rocket of a shot from almost 30 yards out into the top left-hand corner of the net. While Harry Kane levelled the scores soon after, the Portuguese superstar stepped up again to drive home a cross from Jadon Sancho to keep the home side in front. With Spurs following up with an equaliser thanks to an own goal from Harry Maguire, United once again turned to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to bail them out of trouble with Ronaldo claiming his hattrick in the 81st minute of the match, sending the home crowd into delirium. And the noise inside Old Trafford after that final goal was something special. Not many players in the world could cause such a seismic eruption of noise like Ronaldo. And while his trio of goals secured a crucial three points for Ralf Rangnick's side, keeping them in the hunt for the top four, Ronaldo also broke a personal record of his own, scoring his 807th competitive goal, making him the all-time leading goalscorer in FIFA history. He is simply sensational. While we are in awe of Ronaldo's achievements, the Old Trafford faithful were also on their feet after the match giving their forward a simply spine-tingling reception as he left the pitch at the end of the game. Unfortunately, for those of us who were unable to be there to experience the atmosphere inside of the theatre of dreams, we will just have to settle for a video of the atmosphere, which you can check out below.
