Emma Raducanu crashed out of Indian Wells after losing to Petra Martić in the third round of the WTA 1000 event.

Raducanu was defeated 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 by the Croatian, who now goes on to play Ludmilla Samsonova in the fourth round.

It was a frustrating match for Raducanu, who let Martić back into the clash after leading 5-4 in the third set.

The 19-year-old has struggled to put together a run of victories since her improbable win at the US Open in September.

Raducanu became the first ever qualifier, male or female, to earn a Grand Slam title. She won 10 games in a row without dropping a set, and became the first female British tennis player to claim a major since Virginia Wade in 1977.

Injuries have plagued Raducanu since then – she pulled out of her second round match at the Australian Open with a painful blister on her hand, and withdrew from the Abierto Akron Zapopan with a hip injury. She only just recovered in time to compete at Indian Wells.

Fans will be hoping to see Raducanu avoid another early exit at her tournament, but where will this be?

When will Emma Raducanu play next?

Raducanu will likely stay in the US to play at the Miami Open, another WTA 1000 event. The tournament is scheduled for March 22nd to April 3rd at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

In total, 96 players will compete at the event, including 32 seeds. Ashleigh Barty is the defending champion but will not be competing this year, having withdrawn due to fitness concerns.

The tournament is played on hard court. In fact, the Miami Open will be the last hard court event on the WTA Tour before the clay court season begins.

After the Miami Open, Raducanu will be hoping to earn world ranking points at tournaments such as the Charleston Open, Copa Colsanitas, Stuttgart Open and Madrid Open. It will be interesting to see how the US Open champion performs on clay.
