Leeds United are almost certain to be looking to attract some of Major League Soccer's biggest talents to Elland Road amid links to CF Montreal's Djordje Mihailovic, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

There is a growing American influence within the club, with Jesse Marsch taking over as head coach at the end of last month and 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers, having a deal in place to take 100 per cent control of the Whites for in excess of £400million by January 2024.

What's the latest news involving Mihailovic?

According to Forbes journalist Manuel Veth, Marsch wants to make CF Montreal attacking midfielder Mihailovic his first signing since heading to Leeds.

Veth claims the 23-year-old's impressive form in the last MLS campaign has alerted the new Whites head coach, but Mihailovic has continued to be a threat in the early stages of the new campaign after registering a goal and two assists in six outings.

MLS journalist David Gass has claimed Mihailovic's current employers could seek in excess of £8.4million as they are not intending to offload the six-cap United States international.

But Leeds are not the only club eyeing Mihailovic, who has been described as a 'gorgeous passer of the ball', ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to French media outlet Jeunes Footeux, Newcastle United, Everton, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are also mulling over whether to make a move.

What has Dean Jones said about Mihailovic?

Jones is not shocked by the rumours that Mihailovic could link-up with fellow countryman Marsch at Leeds when the window reopens.

The transfer insider has tipped an MLS gem to head to Elland Road at the end of the season.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "It wouldn't surprise me if they signed one from MLS because of the way that the club is being built.

"But I don't think they foresee that as a path to success right now."

Have Leeds been linked with any other MLS stars?

La Pagina Millonaria have revealed Leeds are willing to pay in the region of £10.7million to sign New York City FC striker Valentin Castellanos.

The report suggests the Whites have contacted the Argentinian’s representatives to confirm their interest but Castellanos would prefer to return to his homeland and join River Plate.

However, TN Deportivo have claimed River Plate are unable to afford the 23-year-old after their final bid was rejected by New York City FC.

Castellanos' goals guided his current employers to MLS Cup glory last season and he has found the back of the net 45 times since heading to the United States.
