The ‘biggest loss’ to Everton would be Dominic Calvert-Lewin rather than Richarlison amid growing speculation over their futures, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Both forwards have been linked with imminent exits from Goodison Park in recent weeks, and their departures could have a significant impact over the club’s future fortunes.

What is the latest news involving Everton?

According to Spanish outlet Sport (via Sport Witness), Richarlison is ‘in the running’ to replace Luis Suarez at Atletico Madrid over the summer following a string of impressive performances.

The report states that the Uruguay international is out of contract following the conclusion of the current campaign and is expected to depart the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium after bagging just 11 goals so far this season.

It goes on to state that Richarlison – who is valued at £49.5m by Transfermarkt - is seen as a ‘great market opportunity’ by Atletico if Everton are relegated from the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Calvert-Lewin has reportedly attracted the attention of top-flight rivals Arsenal and West Ham United, with both sides desperate for a new striker to lead the line.

The Daily Star claimed back in January that the Gunners were lining up a move for the 6 foot 2 ace after Dusan Vlahovic opted to join Juventus over them and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was banished to Barcelona.

And The Sun also stated that the Hammers were keen to secure Calvert-Lewin’s signature in order to provide cover and competition for Michail Antonio.

What has Brown said about Everton?

While Richarlison has played a large portion of Everton’s games this season, starting 17 Premier League fixtures, Calvert-Lewin - who is valued at £40.5m - has been ravaged by injuries, featuring from the off on just nine occasions.

Nevertheless, Brown believes it’s the England international’s exit which would hurt the Merseysiders the most.

He told GiveMeSport: “At the moment, it's going to sound strange because Richarlison has been the player playing every week and giving them good minutes, but I still think Calvert-Lewin would be the biggest loss out of the two of them.”

Can Everton avoid relegation?

Everton's ability to keep hold of Richarlison and/or Calvert-Lewin during the summer window will largely depend on which division they are playing in next season.

Frank Lampard’s charges are currently sitting in 17th position in the Premier League table, with only goal difference keeping them above the relegation zone.

They do have up to three games in hand over their nearest rivals, though, meaning Everton’s destiny is still in their own hands, and their next fixture against Newcastle could prove to be pivotal.
