Last Saturday evening, Cristiano Ronaldo was against the talk of the footballing world once again. The 37-year-old superstar returned to Manchester United's starting XI for Tottenham Hotspur's visit to Old Trafford after missing the match against Manchester City the week before. And Ronaldo was at the very peak of his powers to secure a potentially priceless 3-2 victory for the Red Devils. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner netted a quite magnificent hat-trick, the 59th he's scored for club and country during his career.Ronaldo's latest treble also saw him move ahead of the great Josef Bican to become the leading goal-getter in the history of men's professional football. The former Real Madrid and Juventus man has now found the back of the net an astonishing 807 times, a total which almost beggars belief.Ronaldo has also moved up to second in the 2021/22 Premier League scoring chart with 12 goals to his name, which isn't bad for a player who made his professional debut as far back as 2002.And what's even more impressive about Ronaldo this season is the fact that he's offered far more than just goals to United. Both his impressive link-up play and ability to create chances for teammates have slipped under the radar a tad.

Imagine thinking Ronaldo was ever the 'problem' at United. How the ageless forward has only three assists to his name across all competitions so far this campaign is beyond us.

He's still a truly world-class operator and without him, Ralf Rangnick's side would be in a far worse place right now.

Their chances of finishing in the top four would be slim to nil, while it's very likely that they would have exited the Champions League at the group stage without Ronaldo's goals.
