It's certainly been a tough five days for Chelsea Football Club.Last Thursday, the Blues' owner Roman Abramovich had his assets frozen by the UK government. The sanctions imposed on the Russian billionaire mean Chelsea's future is currently very uncertain, with the club now up for sale.Abramovich won't receive a single penny of the proceeds when the west London outfit eventually find a new owner due to the intervention of the UK government. As football stories go, they don't come much bigger and Chelsea's situation was unsurprisingly a topic of conversation on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. After comparing the Blues' striking options in Kai Havertz and Romelu Lukaku, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville moved on to the end of the Abramovich era at Stamford Bridge. And Carragher was pretty ruthless with his assessment. At the start of the segment, the Liverpool legend said he understood the frustrations of fans over the fact that rival clubs are now looking to take advantage of Chelsea. However, Carragher then stated that he believed it was also a "hypocritical" stance, because in his opinion, the west London club have been doing exactly that for the best part of two decades. He then listed the ways in which Chelsea have taken advantage of other clubs, including their pursuit of Steven Gerrard and the manner in which they signed Ashley Cole from Arsenal.Check out Carragher's comments in full here...

Carragher said: "Chelsea have been doing that for 20 years. That was the big thing of Roman Abramovich coming.

"We can throw our money about and we can get who we want, we're going to go to Manchester United, the first thing we do, we're going to get Peter Kenyon their CEO, we'll go to Liverpool and take the best midfielder in Europe and destabilise that club for two summers.

"We'll go and get Ashley Cole, an invincible, we'll get caught tapping up, doesn't matter, we'll pay the fine, England flying at the time with Sven-Goran Eriksson, no we want him as Chelsea manager, we'll pay the fine don't worry.

"They win the Youth Cup every year or get into the final, not because they have the best coaches or the best academy, but because they go and basically take the best players from every club within this country and relocate the family.

"So, Chelsea football club have taken advantage of every other club in the last 20 years because of Roman Abramovich. So if I give an opinion of another club taking advantage of them, that's just a way of life.

"I don't want Chelsea to go to the wall. But that’s my opinion of it, I don't want Chelsea fans the next time I go there questioning that opinion because that is exactly what Chelsea have done for the last 20 years."

Yeah, Carragher didn't hold back one bit in the Sky Sports studio.

The defender-turned-pundit is certainly not going to be the most popular figure among Chelsea fans, particularly after his article in The Telegraph last week, which was the reason he received criticism at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.

In his column with the publication, Carragher claimed that Manchester United should take advantage of the crisis at Chelsea and make an offer to Thomas Tuchel.

So it's perhaps no wonder that the 44-year-old was involved in some "heated discussions" with supporters while covering the 1-0 win over Newcastle United.

Those discussions didn't stop him from taking aim at Chelsea on the Monday Night Football, though...
