It's not just on the pitch that Manchester United have fallen behind their Premier League rivals.Off the pitch, their Old Trafford Stadium is in serious need of some TLC.Once the grandest stadium in all of the land, Old Trafford is now a bit of a sorry sight.Plans to revamp the iconic 112-year stadium are now underway. There are a number of options being considered. However, according to the Daily Mail, one of them includes a complete demolition job of the current Old Trafford Stadium. Now, that would be a very controversial solution to the current problems. That would involve Man Utd having to find somewhere to play for at least two seasons while Old Trafford is knocked down and a new stadium is built.A ground share with Man City at the Etihad, anyone?Other options include 'rebuilding and extending' the ageing South Stand up and over the railway line that runs behind it.Another is to leave the stadium's structure but have a 'comprehensive revamp of spectator and corporate areas on all four sides.'It's believed the improvement of the South Stand is the one that appeals most to the club and the Glazer family. Current technology has solved a problem that has previously existed with the railway line sitting directly behind the South Stand. It's likely the current capacity of 74,000 would be increased to 80,000 if they choose that option.Chief operating officer Collette Roche told a fans' forum in December that a number of options to revamp Old Trafford were being considered.Roche said: "These meetings have produced exciting potential ideas, although it's important to note that we're still at an early stage and it's premature to talk about timetables".

Previously, Gary Neville has slammed the state of the current stadium and the iconic Carrington training ground.

"You look at the club now, this stadium I know it looks great here (on TV) but if you go behind the scenes it's rusty and rotting," Neville said. "The training ground is probably not even top five in this country, they haven't got to a Champions League semi-final in 10 years and we haven't won a league here for eight years.

"The land around the ground is undeveloped, dormant and derelict, while every other club seems to be developing the facilities and the fan experiences.

"The Glazer family are struggling to meet the financial requirements, and the fans are saying enough is enough."
