Canelo, Usyk, no Tyson Fury: Terence Crawford names his top 5 P4P boxers

Terence Crawford is no doubt a great boxer.

He’s currently 38-0 including 29 wins via knockout. He’s held multiple world titles in three different weight classes, including the WBO welterweight championship since 2018.

Now, he’s been asked to name his current pound for pound top five list. Quite controversially, Crawford has excluded Tyson Fury and placed himself alongside Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

When speaking with EsNews, as per The Sun, Crawford said the following: “I’ve got me, I got Canelo, I’ve got Errol (Spence Jr), I got (Naoya) Inoue, (Oleksander) Usyk.”

It’s interesting that Usyk has been included in the list at the same time as Fury has been excluded.

The Ukrainian, who obviously isn’t competing at the moment due to current world events, does potentially have a bout with Anthony Joshua lined up in the future, while Fury will battle Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, April 23. A bout that is scheduled to be Fury’s last as he apparently eyes retirement.

Crawford went on to say that he feels he is underrated. The American backs himself as the best pound for pound fighter in boxing right now, and while it’s important to have confidence in yourself as a boxer, the Nebraskan feels as if people will see things his way once he retires.

“I feel like I’m never given the credit I rightfully deserve, but it’ll come when I retire.

“As far as the rankings are I believe I am already number one,” he explained.

Crawford has been continuously linked with potential a fight with also unbeaten welterweight Errol Spence Jr, who did recently express interest in finally stepping into the ring with him after years of rumours about such an intriguing fight.

Crawford hasn’t got a fight scheduled as of writing this article, following his TKO victory over Shawn Porter in November of 2021, while Spence Jr has to fight Yordenis Ugas on April 16, though, he’s acknowledged that once he’s past that fight, he may well look into the potential clash with Crawford.
