On Monday, March 14, the wrestling world was stunned by the passing of Scott Hall. Tragically, he had to be placed on life support which was later switched off to allow him to peacefully pass away with his family in place. The man, also known as Razor Ramon, portrayed an effortlessly cool persona as he became a huge star inside the squared circle. His star power carried through both the WWF and WCW, where he accumulated multiple championships. In the WWF, he built his legacy around the Intercontinental Championship, winning the title four times, being known for an incredible ladder match with Shawn Michaels. There were a fair share of championships earned by Hall in WCW, though, he is probably more known for being a founding member of the nWo rather than any championship wins. The nWo have a strong claim at being the most influential group in the history of professional wrestling. The black and white colours have become iconic, as well as a monochrome tint on the screen whenever they would make their entrance. The group was founded by Scott Hall alongside Kevin Nash and Hollywood Hulk Hogan, the latter of whom spoke on the night of Hall’s passing.

At a bar in Tampa, Hulk Hogan took a microphone and delivered a speech remembering his friend. Within the first 10 seconds of the clip, Hogan reaches out his hand in the infamous ‘too sweet’ pose, saying “for life brother” in an immediate nod to Hall.

He discusses how he thought his career may have peaked before Hall ‘resurrected’ him and ‘put him back on the map.’

“I love him so much I can’t even explain it to you. He had a bunch of faults but he’s a good guy and I just want to let everybody know here tonight, that he’s in our thoughts and prayers.”

Hogan used the phrase associated with Hall, stating that ‘bad times don’t last, but bad guys do’ to raise a huge cheer from those in attendance.

He suggested that the Bad Guy was key in teaching the Hollywood version of Hulk Hogan to be bad. He then brings his speech to a close by reminding everyone that he, of course, would be there partying with everyone should he have been able to.
