Rangers fans not convinced over £16.2m attacker with 'pedigree'

Rangers winger Amad Diallo still has to prove to the supporters that he can become a key player, according to journalist Chris Jack.

Amad joined the Scottish giants from Manchester United on loan until the end of the season back in January.

How has Amad fared at Rangers so far?

The 19-year-old got off to the dream start at Rangers by scoring on his debut in a 3-3 draw against Ross County.

However, just four days later, he was hauled off at half time as the Gers slipped to a 3-0 defeat in the Old Firm derby at Celtic Park, and he has not started a league match since.

He has recently been sidelined through injury, but he returned on Sunday to play 23 minutes off the bench as Rangers beat Dundee 3-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

What has Jack said about Amad?

Jack has admitted that Rangers fans were happy to see Amad join the club at the start of the year, given that he has already featured for United and Atalanta in his short career.

He has claimed that the £16.2m-rated forward needs to step up to the plate upon his return from injury, though, if he wants to play an important role at Ibrox over the coming weeks.

Talking to GIVEMESPORT about Amad, Jack said: “There’s a lot of excitement, understandably, because of his pedigree and his transfer record, but I think he’s got a long way back to convince Rangers fans that he can be a difference-maker.”

Can Amad be an important player in Rangers’ title charge?

Giovanni van Bronckhorst may have hoped for more from Amad when he signed him, but the youngster is yet to find his best form.

It would be very harsh to right him off already, though, as his time at the club has been disrupted by an injury setback.

With Rangers just three points behind Celtic in the table, it promises to be a fascinating finish to the season as both teams aim to get their hands on another Scottish title.

If Amad can stay injury-free and start to build his confidence, there is no reason why he won’t get more game time at Rangers.

He will then have the opportunity to make a big impact in matches, proving to the fans that he can be a major asset for the club between now and the end of the season.
