Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is on the radar of former club Juventus in the event that Paul Dybala departs, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 29-year-old has entered the final few months of his contract at Old Trafford, and with no sign of him putting pen to paper on fresh terms, he could be set to depart as a free agent in the summer.

What is the latest news involving Pogba?

Pogba rose through the United academy but soon became frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities and joined Juve after making just seven substitute appearances for his boyhood club.

During his time in Turin, the France international established himself as one of the world’s top engine room operators, registering 34 goals and 40 assists in 178 appearances for the Old Lady.

An enviable trophy haul of four Serie A titles and two Italian Cups prompted the Red Devils to bring Pogba back to Manchester in 2016 in a then world-record £89 million deal.

However, the 6 foot 3 ace has been unable to drag the 20-time English champions back to their previous perch over the last five-and-a-half years as had been hoped.

Pogba only has a Europa League crown and a League Cup success to show for his efforts at United the second time around and has been tipped to exit the club for a second time.

According to the Daily Mail, Juve, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all eager to secure the creative talent’s services, although it’s claimed he has refused to rule out extending his stay with United.

What has Jones said about Pogba?

Dybala is in a similar situation to Pogba at the Allianz Stadium, with his existing deal due to expire in June 2022.

And Jones has revealed that Juve have identified Pogba as a possible replacement for the Argentina international if he decides to seek pastures new following the conclusion of the current campaign.

He told GiveMeSport: “In terms of Dybala, it's all looking pretty uncertain still at Juve. I've heard that if he goes, then they are looking at Paul Pogba as a guy that they would look to bring in. It’s one of the plans that they've got in mind.”

Would Pogba be a big loss?

According to WhoScored, Pogba has been United’s second-best performer compared to players who have made over one appearance this season, achieving a rating of 7.08.

His tallies of 1.9 dibbles and 4.2 long balls per league also better those of his teammates, while his average of 1.5 key passes sees him ranked third amongst his colleagues.

Combined with the fact that his nine Premier League assists also has him three above his nearest challenger Bruno Fernandes, it’s clear to see the void that Pogba’s exit would leave behind.
