West Ham are still waiting to find out the extent of Michail Antonio's hamstring problem, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Antonio sustained the injury in the victory over Aston Villa on Sunday and has emerged as an early doubt for the Hammers' crucial Europa League clash with Sevilla on Thursday.

What happened to Antonio?

The West Ham striker has a history of hamstring problems in recent seasons, missing more than 30 games since he made the switch to East London with injuries to that particular muscle.

However, despite the Hammers' demanding schedule in the Premier League and Europe this term, Antonio has managed to stay fit all season, making 34 appearances in all competitions.

But he hobbled off early in the second half against Villa after injuring his left hamstring, which is a major concern ahead of the Sevilla game.

Moyes was asked about Antonio's injury after the Villa defeat and said: "I don't really know yet but if I did I would not tell you because I am not going to let Sevilla have any idea whether they're going to be fit or not."

What did Jones say about Antonio?

When asked for an update on Antonio's condition, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm told they weren't sure on the grade of the injury yet, but they will know more in the coming days."

Who could start in Antonio's absence?

With Antonio West Ham's only senior recognised striker, when he was injured towards the end of last season, Jarrod Bowen was forced to cover up front for the Hammers.

But with Bowen also currently unavailable and expected to miss the Sevilla tie, Moyes has a huge decision to make in regard to who should start against the Spanish outfit.

Earlier in the season, Antonio missed the defeat to Manchester United, and Said Benrahma played up front, while Andriy Yarmolenko started there against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, although the latter has hardly featured of late, which could make a starting place unlikely despite his goal against Aston Villa.
