Dominik Mysterio has ruled out the possibility of facing his father Rey Mysterio in a WWE match.

Ever since Dominik made his debut on WWE TV in 2019 and then subsequently competed in his first match against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam a year later, the question of a Mysterio vs. Mysterio match has been constantly put to the 24-year-old.

Speaking on Die Woche with Sebastian Hackl, the possibility was again put to Dominik about going one-on-one with his father, but it’s something that he believes won’t ever happen.

See me personally, this is something that I’ve, you know, I’ve given a lot of thought [facing his father in a singles match] and before I started wrestling and like, even my first match I would say, ‘Yeah, you know, why not wrestle against my dad?’ But, after everything we’ve been through now and seeing our relationship, how it’s grown and just, you know, we — it’s just different now. We’re on the road together, I drive for hours after the shows so it’s like that bond that we have has only gotten stronger and I just don’t see that ever happening. I see him riding off into the sunset, like a happy dude.

Together Dominik and Rey made WWE history when the beat Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode at WrestleMania Backlash in 2021, by becoming the first-ever father and son WWE tag team champions. A reign that lasted 63 days until their defeat to current SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos.

Next month the pair will team-up once again at WrestleMania 38 to face-off against the team of The Miz and his celebrity partner, social media personality Logan Paul. This will mark Dominik’s first-ever WrestleMania match and will take place on WrestleMania Saturday, 2 April in Dallas.
