Life has not exactly gone according to plan for Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea.

The west London club shelled out a hefty £90 million for the Belgian after he propelled Inter Milan to the Serie A title last season.

Initially, it looked as though that would be money well spent with Lukaku flying out of the gates in the early weeks of the Premier League season.

However, an injury would curtail that early promise and, after a significant spell on the sidelines, Lukaku simply hasn't looked up to the pace.

He famously only managed to register seven touches in a Premier League clash against Crystal Palace in February and has struggled to make any sort of significant impact in front of goal.

Of course, Chelsea news is dominated by off-field matters at the moment, but that hasn't stopped an alarming graphic from circulating online.

The graphic, which shows the 'Hardest Working Strikers in the Premier League' does not paint Lukaku in a good light at all.

Using distance covered and total number of sprints per game, Sky Sports were able to rank the strikers in the Premier League with Liverpool's Roberto Firmino coming out on top.

Where was Lukaku, you ask? Stone dead last - and it wasn't even close.

In fact, Lukaku finds himself stuck behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left the Premier League in January.

Cristiano Ronaldo might also want to look away as he finds himself with only Lukaku below him - fortunately, his goal tally more than makes up for his supposed lack of graft.

Now, of course, the amount of distance a striker covers is hardly a straight and true yardstick with which to measure a striker's performance.

However, in this day and age where strikers are expected to be just as much a part of the press as anyone, you can hardly argue that it isn't a poor look for the lads at the bottom.

Chelsea's future may remain uncertain but one thing is for sure, they are going to be expecting big improvements from their star signing if/once their off-field problems are solved.
