Liverpool do not seem willing to meet Mohamed Salah's contract demands, says journalist Dean Jones.

The 29-year-old's future has been on the agenda, and Jones believes his agent is starting to get frustrated with the whole situation.

What is the latest news involving Salah?

The reliable Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Salah turned down a new Liverpool contract back in December, with his current one set to expire next year.

It is in contrast to what Jurgen Klopp has said after the Reds boss told reporters that the Egyptian forward has not rejected any offers yet.

All in all, right now, nothing seems to be clear when it comes to the subject of Salah's future, and things look like they are going to rumble on.

Romano, however, has stated that the £90m-rated star is not currently planning a move to La Liga, so Liverpool still clearly have time to get something sorted before Real Madrid and Barcelona potentially enter the equation.

What has Jones said about Salah's future?

Jones, though, gets the impression that the Reds are not going to break the bank to keep their star man at Anfield.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: "You can see that the agent is becoming frustrated. Salah's obviously made it clear what he wants, and Liverpool just don't seem willing to go there."

Should Liverpool be prepared to shatter their wage structure for Salah?

When it is not your money, it is easy to say yes. And if they did end up doing so, no one would fault them.

Salah is one of the best players in the country if not the best. His goalscoring record is exceptional, with the former AS Roma man recently reaching the 20-goal mark in the current Premier League campaign.

However, at 29, FSG will be wary of the fact that Salah has little resale value, which is probably one factor behind why a new big-money contract has not been agreed yet.

Replacing Salah, though, is going to be virtually impossible. New signing Luis Diaz has impressed, with the Colombian recently grabbing his second goal for the club since his move from Porto in January, but could he really fill the void if his team-mate did end up leaving?

With Salah netting over 150 goals for Liverpool in four-and-a-half seasons at the club, honestly, it is hard to see anyone that the Reds can realistically get doing the above. Therefore, perhaps handing the Egypt international whatever he wants is the best course of action to take.
