Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield if he fails to sign a new contract by the end of the season and the Reds could now see him as a replaceable asset, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Salah has been a revelation since heading to Merseyside in a £34million deal from Roma in 2017, chalking up more than 150 goals and getting his hands on an abundance of trophies, but there are serious question marks over where his long-term future lies.

What's the latest news involving Salah?

Salah is currently Liverpool's joint-second highest paid player, with his contract being worth £200,000-per-week, but the agreement is due to expire next summer.

The Reds have been desperate for Salah to commit his long-term future to the club but, according to the Mirror, boss Jurgen Klopp will not talk to the attacker and his agent amid the contract stand-off.

It comes after Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah's representative, appeared to mock the German by heading onto social media to post seven laughing emojis following a press conference where Klopp had spoken about his client's negotiations with the Anfield club.

Klopp had revealed Salah is expecting Liverpool to be ambitious but the Premier League title chasers have done everything they can to persuade him to put pen-to-paper, resulting in the 80-cap Egypt international having the final decision on whether to accept the offer on the table.

Meanwhile, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has suggested the 29-year-old is not desperate to move onto pastures new in the summer and, instead, could leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract if a new deal is not agreed.

What has Dean Jones said about Salah?

Jones believes Liverpool are preparing for the possibility of Salah leaving the club, potentially as soon as at the end of the season.

The transfer insider feels the Reds will be open to selling this term's Premier League top goalscorer when the summer window opens for business if they cannot tie him down to fresh terms before then.

He has also alleged that the Egyptian's current employers may believe they could cope without his predatory instincts.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "Maybe Liverpool believe that they can move on from Mo Salah. I'm not sure, but I think if we get to the summer and there's no agreement in place, we need to seriously be looking at the fact that Salah is going to be leaving and then figure out where he can actually go."

Who could Liverpool look to sign as Salah's replacement?

Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka ahead of potentially looking to prise him away from north London at the end of the campaign.

Saka is approaching the final two years of his £33,000-per-week contract with the Gunners, although it was revealed last month that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is looking to hold negotiations over a new deal which would make the winger one of the highest paid players at the Emirates Stadium.

Former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has tipped Saka to be a long-term Reds replacement for Salah.
