Cheltenham Festival 2022 Day 4: How To Watch, Tips & More

So here we come to the final day of Cheltenham week. I hope the week has been kind to you and the odds have been in your favour, but if not - don't worry, there's one more day to save your bacon.

Last year ended with a bang. We had Minella Indo taking away the infamous Gold Cup, Colreevy taking the Mares Chase and finishing off with a fantastic ride from Galopin Des Champs which took the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle in the last race of Cheltenham 2021.

This year we've got some great races coming up, so strap in - It's the final day of Cheltenham Festival.

So – let’s not hold our horses. Here’s everything you need to know about Day 4 of Cheltenham Festival 2022.

How to Watch

The races are all being televised, but they are split between two TV Companies. Racing TV (Sky Channel 426) will be showing all of the races at Cheltenham; however, the first five races each day will be on ITV. Coverage starts at 1 pm each day.

The races on ITV will be free to watch, but Sky Racing TV is part of a Sky subscription. It costs £10 on top of your subscription a month.

Day four of the Cheltenham Festival begins on Friday 18th March 2022, with the first race taking place at 1:30 PM GMT.

13:30 Triumph Hurdle

Richard Johnson and Le Rocher (C) make a mess of the hurdle before going on to win

Distance – 2 miles 1 furlong (Grade 1)
Going in – Good to Soft
Runners – 12

Day four kicks off with the Triumph Hurdle.

W.P Mullins owned Vauban is bookie's favourite to nick this one, with Pied Piper and Fil Dor being the next best fancied.

We're sticking with the favourite here as this is a very, very tough race.

14:10 County Hurdle

Distance – 2 miles 1 furlong (Grade 3)
Going in – Good to Soft
Runners – 28

Race two of the day is the County Hurdle.

Hard to predict in a 28 horse race, but we really like the look of the favourite State Man. He's fancied in most races he features in, and this is no different.

Predicted Winner - State Man

14:10 Spa Novices' Hurdle

Distance – 3 miles (Grade 1)
Going in – Good to Soft
Runners – 19

Next up - the Spa Novices' Hurdle.

Ginto is the heavy favourite for this race, no surprise given his unbeaten record over hurdles.

We personally think Shantreusse and Hillcrest are good outside shots. We think Hillcrest will just edge it.

15:30 Cheltenham Gold Cup

Quilixios ridden by Rachael Blackmore jumps the last fence while on the way to victory

Distance – 3 miles 2 Furlongs (Grade 1)
Going in – Good to Soft
Runners – 11

Here it is. The biggest race of the week. Race four of day four is the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

A Plus Tard ridden by Rachael Blackmore is the bookie's favourite, with Galvin and last year's winner Minella Indo the next best fancied.

Our money is on the favourite, A Plus Tard - he's the favourite for a reason, he's a machine.

16:10 Foxhunter Chase

Distance – 3 miles 2 Furlongs (Grade 1)
Going in – Good to Soft
Runners – 20

The Foxhunter Chase is up next.

20 runners make up this one, with Billaway the clear bookie's favourite.

Winged Leader also isn't a bad shout at 4/1, so may be worth a couple of quid - but we back Bob & Co. He's had some tough luck at Cheltenham over the years, so we think this year could be his.
