Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell will soon be attracting the attention of some of the best clubs in the country, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The 22-year-old has established himself in Patrick Vieira's starting line-up at Selhurst Park this term, and appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

How has Mitchell performed this season?

Mitchell showed some promising signs last season when he featured in 19 top-flight games for the Eagles as he battled for a starting spot with Patrick van Aanholt.

This year the £12.6m-rated defender has taken his game to another level, and has not missed a single minute of Premier League action.

According to WhoScored, he has been Palace's fourth-best player in 2021/22, earning an average match rating of 6.79.

The left-back has made more tackles (90) and more interceptions (35) than anyone else in the Palace squad.

What has O'Rourke said about Mitchell?

Mitchell missed out on Gareth Southgate's latest England squad, but O'Rourke has suggested that a call-up may not be too far away, and has claimed that international honours, plus his club form, could lead to the youngster becoming a man in demand.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “You’ve got to be imagining that some Premier League clubs will be looking at Tyrick Mitchell. I think the last couple of season he’s been a real consistent performer for Palace, and if he was to get an England call-up in the future, it’s just going to raise his profile even further, and bring him to the attention of the top clubs in the Premier League.”

Has Mitchell got the credit he deserves?

Possibly not.

Vieira has a number of young, exciting talented players at his disposal at the moment, with the likes of Conor Gallagher, Michael Olise and Marc Guehi all flourishing in the first-team.

When you also bring the experienced Wilfried Zaha into the mix, who remains a key figure at Selhurst Park, it is easy to see why Mitchell is perhaps being overlooked.

However, he has quietly gone about his business, and is developing into a fine full-back, which deserves recognition.

He can consider himself unfortunate to have not made England's squad for this month's friendlies as Southgate picked Luke Shaw as his only left-back, but if Mitchell keeps playing at his current level, it is unlikely to be too long before he does get his maiden call-up.
