Barcelona star Jordi Alba lost it with Galatasaray’s fans and kicked the ball at them towards the end of Thursday’s Europa League clash in Istanbul. The two sides played out a goalless draw at Camp Nou last week and it was Galatasaray who took the lead in the second leg courtesy of Marcao’s 28th-minute strike. However, Pedri levelled the scores with a sublime finish shortly afterwards before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added a second goal for the visitors after half-time.As the clock ticked down to full-time there was an unsavoury incident involving Alba and Galatasaray’s fans.Barça appeared to be wasting time after being awarded a throw-in and this incensed the home supporters, whose team needed a late goal to avoid being knocked out of the Europa League. And when an object was thrown from the stands at Alba, the Spanish full-back left the touchline.Marcao pleaded with Gala’s fans to let Alba take the throw, conscious that there were only minutes left on the clock. However, the same thing happened moments later: Alba was targeted with objects thrown from the crowd. The left-back then made the situation worse by aggressively kicking the ball at Galatasaray’s fans in anger.Watch the footage here:

One fan inside the ground could be heard saying: "Oh my god, Jordi Alba just kicked the ball at the fans!"

While you can certainly understand his frustrations, he shouldn’t have reacted like that. It was only going to cause chaos.

Once again, Galatasaray’s players appealed to their home fans to calm down, pointing out that precious time was being wasted.

Alba, meanwhile, was shown a yellow card for his reaction.

No further goals were scored once play resumed, meaning Barça sealed their place in the Europa League quarter-final draw at Galatasaray’s expense.

Xavi’s side are currently the favourites to win the competition. Other teams through to the last eight include West Ham, RB Leipzig and Rangers.
