Patrice Evra is set to make his boxing debut on the undercard of Martyn Ford vs 'The Iranian Hulk' next month.

The former Manchester United defender, 40, will face YouTube star Adam Saleh, 28, at the iconic O2 Arena in London on April 30.

Evra's fight against Saleh will be chief support to what is being described as 'the heaviest heavyweight fight ever’ and will be the 40-year-old's first appearance inside the ropes as he looks to swap the football boots for the boxing gloves.

The event will be hosted by Boxstar Celebrity Boxing who call themselves 'celebrity fight specialists'.

Saleh, who was previously linked to an appearance against fellow YouTube star KSI, is an American YouTube personality, boxer, music artist and actor.

The 28-year-old has fought three times before already, winning twice and drawing once with TikTok star Walid Sharks.

His last appearance was in October beating Anas Elshayib by unanimous decision in Dubai.

Evra said via a press release: “I'm really excited to participate for the first time ever in my life in a boxing match, because I always had so much respect for people boxing.

"It is not just about power and strength, it is also about strategy and technique - It's like a chess game.

"What I am the most excited for is the training technique, because the way they train is completely different to how football players train.

"I am really excited to work hard, to challenge myself, and to get out of my comfort zone.

"It is a massive opportunity for me. Of course, I want to have fun, like with everything I do, but I also want to make sure I show that I respect this sport.”

Boxstar CEO Stefan Maciejewski added: “At Boxstar we are committed to putting on the biggest fights possible from the celebrity world.

"To add a footballing legend like Patrice Evra to a stacked card that already includes the heaviest heavyweight fight of all time is fantastic and we can’t wait to watch him put on a show on April 30 in front of a packed O2 Arena."

However, Evra isn't the only footballer fighting on next month's card, as former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O'Hara will also make an appearance at his local arena against life coach Kris Boyson.

Love Island trio Theo Campbell, Jack Fincham and AJ Bunker are also set to feature in what promises to be a fun night of entertainment.

Meanwhile, heavyweight rivals Ford and Hulk will showdown in the main event on April 30.

The pair nearly came to blows at a media event to promote the fight last month, but were quickly separated by security before things got out of hand.
