Back at SummerSlam, Finn Balor became the inaugural Universal Champion but hasn't been seen by the WWE Universe since.

Balor suffered a very serious injury in his championship win over Seth Rollins and is now on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

A long road back

Balor has been missed by the fans who were loving his meteoric rise to fame ever since the WWE Draft and are already looking forward to his return.

Well after over a month out, Balor has given us his first real update since he left WWE TV and he appears to be in good spirits.

Uploading an Instagram post showing himself in a hospital bed, Balor included a caption referencing the Rocky films franchise.

Following a successful stem cell transplant in his shoulder, Balor posted the image to show fans that he is progressing in his rehabilitation.

The image came with a video that was tweeted out from the WWE Twitter account in which the doctor overseeing the procedure explained exactly what they were doing.

Balor isn't expected back until 2017 but the fans will surely be happy for any update that they can get on their newest big name.

A lot done in his absence

It seems like almost a lifetime ago that Balor was in the ring with RAW General Manager Mick Foley handing back the Universal title belt.

Since then, we have seen Seth Rollins become a fan favourite, Kevin Owens become the new champion and subsequently defeat Rollins and Roman Reigns has won the United States Championship.

A lot has changed since Balor left and with people hopeful that he can be back before WrestleMania 33 next year, who knows what else will change between now and then?
