Former UFC star Michael Bisping put Simon Jordan in his place on talkSPORT earlier this week when the pair got into a discussion about two of the biggest combat sports.Boxing enthusiast Jordan was explaining to Bisping why he doesn’t like the UFC, but the 43-year-old hit back with a superb response that simply stumped the radio presenter.Bisping was the first British fighter to compete at a UFC main event back at UFC 78 and he was also the first Brit to win a title back at UFC 199.The former Crystal Palace owner is known for his strong views on the White and Jordan radio show, but Bisping wasn’t having any of it.Jordan said: “I always liked boxing and I didn’t like UFC.“When I went to watch UFC, what I found I didn’t like about it, I didn’t like the audience.“I felt the audience behaved in a certain way which was almost like some sort of gladiatorial killing sort of mentality.

“And I didn’t like the sport. I’m always challenged about the brutality.

“I know we watch boxing and want to see someone get knocked out, but there’s something so – for want of a better expression – to the knuckle about UFC I can’t get my head around. I don’t like it, it makes me wince.”

Bisping then fired back, saying: “Mixed martial arts is the most technical sport on the planet because you’ve got to master so many different Olympic sports.

“And now to the layman, obviously yourself that hasn’t put the time and effort into learning about the sport.

“When you see somebody hits the ground and you think ‘wow that’s very vicious because they are following them down’.

“What happens is you get a concussive punch to the face, you go down, you take one more, they stop it.

“In your sport which you love so much which you say is not brutal. Many, many people continue with the standing count, they go to the hospital afterwards and sadly 10-15 fighters per year around the world pass away.

“We have yet to have anyone pass away with mixed martial arts.”

He then went on to say that UFC boss Dana White has a lot to do with how safe the sport is now compared to when it started.

Eternal MMA 64 takes place early Saturday morning. The prelims will be streamed live on GiveMeSport’s official Facebook page, while the main card will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.
