Wolverhampton Wanderers trio Raul Jimenez, Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto will ‘form a formidable attack’, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The trio are yet to feature in the same starting line-up this season due to Neto’s extensive injury problems, but they could build some momentum in the final few weeks of the campaign.

What is the latest news involving Wolves?

It’s been a successful season for Bruno Lage’s charges so far, with their haul of 46 points enough to have them sitting in eighth place after 29 games.

However, things could have been looking even brighter for Wolves had their forward players been even more decisive in front of goal.

The Midlands outfit have only found the back on the net on 29 occasions in the top-flight prior to this evening’s encounter with Leeds United, by far the lowest tally in the top half of the table.

And Wolves’ issues in the final third of the pitch are highlighted by the fact that Jimenez – who is valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt - is the club’s top scorer in the league with just six strikes.

But the Mexico international should have the additional support of Neto – who is valued at £31.5m - and the continued presence of Podence for the majority of their remaining fixtures in 2021/22.

What has O’Rourke said about Wolves?

Neto has been ruled out of today’s enticing encounter against Leeds with a foot injury, but he’s set to return after the international break as Wolves push for European qualification.

And O’Rourke is ‘sure’ that the Portugal international can build a deadly relationship with Jimenez and Podence – who is valued at £19.8m – between now and May.

He told GiveMeSport: “I'm sure those three will form a formidable attack and help Wolves win a lot of games between now and the end of the season.”

Where can Wolves finish this season?

Wolves had looked set to challenge for a place in the top four until three consecutive defeats at the end of February and the start of March put an end to those dreams.

The Molineux side are only four points behind fifth-placed Manchester United, though, and Lage will surely be hoping he can lead his team back into the Europa League.

Tricky fixtures against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool remain, but Wolves will perhaps be confident of causing a few upsets if their attacking stars can hit some form.
