We’ve seen McGregor put on some mass over the past few months, but recently he has been trimming back down.

Recently speaking to The Mac Life, McGregor revealed that he wants to return to the UFC in the Welterweight division and get a shot at the 170-pound Champion Usman.

He said: "I believe versus Usman for the 170-pound title for my comeback is the one I'm eyeballing at the minute. And I feel confident against Usman. A jab happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever. What's he gonna do? Where's the danger here? I don't see a danger with him."

Although many would scoff at the idea of McGregor not only getting a title shot but a title shot in a different weight division, UFC President Dana White has not outright shot down the idea.

Speaking himself to The Mac Life ahead of UFC London earlier in 2022, White said: "Yeah, it's interesting, I hadn't heard that. He's coming into Vegas, we're getting together and we're gonna talk. We'll see what's next...any Conor fight is good money-wise."

Usman himself reacted to the call out from the Irish fighter, tweeting on Friday 18th March 2022: “You guys want a murder scene in the octagon.”

With Leon Edwards taking the belt off of Usman at UFC 278, it is likely that the two men will be heading back to the octagon for a rematch.

As of writing, that contest has not yet been officially confirmed, but it will likely be in March 2023, possibly at an arena or stadium in London, England.

If Usman is unable to defeat Edwards, then a bout with McGregor may well be looked at after, but right now that can be seen as just conjecture.
