Conor McGregor vs Kamaru Usman

We’ve seen McGregor put on some mass over the past few months, but recently he has been trimming back down.

Recently speaking to The Mac Life, McGregor revealed that he wants to return to the UFC in the Welterweight division and get a shot at the 170-pound Champion Usman.

He said: “I believe versus Usman for the 170-pound title for my comeback is the one I’m eyeballing at the minute. And I feel confident against Usman. A jab happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever. What’s he gonna do? Where’s the danger here? I don’t see a danger with him.”

Although many would scoff at the idea of McGregor not only getting a title shot but a title shot in a different weight division, UFC President Dana White has not outright shot down the idea.

Dana White Comments

Speaking himself to The Mac Life ahead of UFC London, White said: “Yeah, it’s interesting, I hadn’t heard that. He’s coming into Vegas, we’re getting together and we’re gonna talk. We’ll see what’s next… Any Conor fight is good money-wise.”

Usman himself reacted to the call out from the Irish fighter, tweeting on Friday 18th March 2022: “You guys want a murder scene in the octagon.”

Another thing to consider when you look at the potential of McGregor vs Usman is the fact that ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has already dominated the 170-pound division for some time, with the #1 ranked fighter in the division Colby Covington having a 0-2 record against him.

We will update this page as and when there is more information regarding the potential contest between McGregor and Usman.
