Shelton Benjamin has been forced to take to Twitter to clarify that he's still with WWE after rumours that he'd been released.

Earlier on today, rumours begun circulating online that Shelton Benjamin had been released by WWE, or at least the company was planning on letting him go.

The news wasn't reported by any reputable sources, but some fans online genuinely believed that Benjamin had been let go by WWE.

However, the former Raw Tag Team Champion took to Twitter this afternoon to outright deny that he'd been released by WWE.

Benjamin joked that Mia Yim, who he has a Twitter feud with, had started the rumours, but confirmed that he's still with WWE.

The 46-year-old explained that the report was "false", noting that the fan's concern for him was "premature.

Shelton Benjamin had had an up-and-down last 18 months, mainly surrounding the situation involving The Hurt Business.

The group was put together in 2020, and saw Benjamin pushed more than he has been at any other point since his WWE return in 2017.

However, the group was unceremoniously dismantled around this time last year, and despite being put together again and split up again, Benjamin hasn't been featured on TV regularly since.

Shelton Benjamin is not part of a feud on WWE TV right now, and it's incredibly unlikely that he's going to have a match at WrestleMania 38 this year.

What is likely to happen, if WWE decides to do the match this year, is that Benjamin features as part of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Benjamin first signed with WWE in 2000, before leaving the company in 2010. Benjamin would return after the brand split in 2017, with WWE actually wanting to him back the year prior had it not been for injury.
