Neuer also broke a prestigious record in the process, overtaking former Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn’s record as the player with the most Bundesliga wins to their name.

This was the 311th Bundesliga win of Neuer’s remarkable career.

"It's a fabled record. Also when comparing the number of games played, it's extraordinary," Julian Nagelsmann said of the new record, per Bayern’s official website, before adding: "But I don't think he's anywhere near finished with that number -- I hope."

Neuer shows off his sweeper-keeper qualities once again

And on his record-breaking appearance, Neuer couldn’t resist going full Manuel Neuer towards the end of the match.

Union Berlin threatened to net a consolation in the 86th minute but Neuer was hand to clear the danger after rushing out of his box.

He then found himself 40 yards from his goal-line and decided to spray a beautiful pass out to the left wing that even Paul Scholes or Xabi Alonso would have been proud of.
