Liverpool are through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 2015.Jurgen Klopp's side booked yet another day at Wembley Stadium with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.A second half goal from Diogo Jota that came just minutes after Philip Zinckernagel missed a sitter for the hosts was enough to secure victory.Liverpool, who were without both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, struggled at times in the match and Forest will feel they should have scored at least one goal. The Championship side performed very well on the day, with Manchester United loanee James Garner more than holding his own in midfield. In fact, Garner's display was so impressive that Red Devils fans believe he's ready for a role in the first-team when his loan spell at Forest is over at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Man Utd fans react to Garner's performance

Garner looks like a special talent and now he's 21 years of age, United need to think seriously about handing him first-team opportunities.

The midfielder even managed to earn some praise from club legend Roy Keane, who was on punditry duty with ITV.

"He [Garner] has got a good partnership with Yates going in the middle of midfield, I think they complement each other very well," the Irishman said after the game.

"He is very good technically and he likes to dictate the play, sits a little bit more than Yates. Tough game for him today, but this game is good for those young players to experience playing against these top players like Liverpool, it is a great way to learn."

Garner has all the tools to make it at United. He's capable of slicing through teams with crisp passes, while he also doesn't shirk away from his defensive duties either - as was proven by his combative display against Liverpool.

Whoever is handed the manager job permanently in the summer has to, at the very least, give him a significant chance in the team's pre-season campaign.
