Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane would be tempted to join Manchester United if the Red Devils appoint former Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino as their boss ahead of next season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Ralf Rangnick is currently in charge at Old Trafford, but he will leave the dugout and take up a consultancy role behind-the-scenes after the campaign reaches its climax.

What's the latest news involving Kane and Pochettino?

According to ESPN, there is a possibility that Manchester United will make a summer move for Kane and the appointment of Pochettino would strengthen their chances of clinching his signature.

The report suggests Kane would cost upwards of £100million and command wages in the region of £350,000-per-week.

The Telegraph's chief football correspondent Jason Burt has claimed Kane could be the goalscoring machine Manchester United have been searching for since Robin van Persie left Old Trafford.

Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, but he was forced to remain on Tottenham's books after chairman Daniel Levy was unwilling to lower his asking price for the frontman.

Meanwhile, current Paris Saint-Germain chief Pochettino is understood to be among the contenders to take charge of the Red Devils at the end of Rangnick's short-term reign, but the club will have to convince the Argentinian that he is their number one choice.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones understands that Kane would be open to swapping the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Old Trafford if Pochettino is installed as Manchester United's new boss.

The transfer insider believes the relationship the pair built in north London is still strong and Kane would like to work under Pochettino again.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "Him and Pochettino are so tight that I'm led to believe, if Pochettino were to get that job, Kane would still be tempted to pair up with him again, so it'll be interesting."

Why could Pochettino's appointment make such a big difference?

Pochettino was in charge of Tottenham for more than five years and it was during his reign that Kane flourished.

The 28-year-old has scored 259 goals over the course of his senior club career and a large chunk of that total came under the Argentinian's guidance.

In fact, Kane has not featured more times under any other manager and found the back of the net on 169 occasions while Pochettino was at the helm.

Pochettino's influence has played a key role in Kane becoming the Premier League's fifth-highest goalscorer of all-time and the 67-cap England international captaining his country.
