Patrick Bamford's potential absence is going to be a "massive loss" for Leeds, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £18m-rated striker suffered another injury in the 3-2 victory at Wolves on Friday night and could face another spell on the sidelines.

What happened to Bamford?

Leeds' incredible second half comeback saw them take a giant step towards Premier League survival, but it wasn't the perfect evening by any stretch for Jesse Marsch.

The White manager lost four players to injury, with the standout being Bamford, who was forced to hobble midway through the first half on just his second start since September.

Bamford should have given Leeds the lead early on, but fluffed his lines, before his night went from bad to worse on 22 minutes when he went down holding his ankle and was forced off. Such was the striker's frustrations, the incident reduced him to tears after he left the Molineux pitch.

He had only recently returned from a three month lay-off from a hamstring injury, with this the latest blow in a long line this season.

What did Jones say about Bamford?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "He's a massive loss and Leeds keep having setbacks every time they start moving forward."

How bad is Bamford's injury?

Leeds don't play again for just under two weeks until they travel to Southampton on Saturday, meaning the international break could hardly have come at a better time.

Furthermore, despite the striker being reduced to tears following the incident, the update Jesse Marsch provided on Bamford's condition after the game was extremely positive.

The Leeds boss said: "Patrick Bamford we believe is not too bad. I think that with his plantar fasciitis it's just been sensitive over the last couple of weeks as he's trying to get himself back, obviously was very disappointed and then the reaction can look like it's a bad injury, but I don't think it is, I think he was just really disappointed to have to come off the pitch."

Marsch was unable to say exactly when Bamford will be back in action, or whether he'll miss any games at all, but the fact that the American doesn't believe the injury is serious would bode well moving forward and suggests that he isn't likely to spend too long on the treatment table.
