Conor McGregor is eyeing a return to the Octagon against current UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
The former dual champion has been out of action since breaking his leg in his last fight against Dustin Poirier back in July.
It looks as though the Irishmanâs well-anticipated return could be on the cards for this summer, with Usman the man in his sights.
The Nigerian hasnât kept his disdain for Notorious a secret in recent weeks, but an amusing video clip has re-emerged in the wake of their recent feud, showing him consistently imitating the Irishman during press conferences and interviews over the years.
In the aftermath of his title defence against Gilbert Burns, he may have even feigned an Irish accent when saying: âThey need to show me some activity."
Thatâs a call back to McGregorâs 2016 comments about how he wasnât keen on fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov.
However, he does seem keen to take on Usman, whoâs undefeated in his 15 UFC fights.
After becoming the first-ever simultaneous double-champ in the UFC, the 33-year-old is hoping to be the promotionâs maiden three-weight champion.
âMyself versus Usman for the 170lbs title in my comeback fight is the one Iâm eyeballing at the minute,â he told The Mac Life.
âWhy cut the weight? Iâve already won the 155lbs title.
âI got myself to a lightweight frame, but you know, Iâm big now. I feel big, I feel strong, I feel healthy, Iâve got good energy.
âIâm coming back from a gruesome injury, I donât want to be depleting myself
âI feel confident against Usman â a jab-happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever. Whatâs he going to do? Whereâs the danger here?"
Usman, who looks set to take on Leon Edwards in his next defence, took to social media to react to McGregorâs comments about a potential fight.
âYou guys want a murder scene in the octagon #p4pâ he tweeted to his over 700,000 followers on Twitter.
