Young tennis stars Emma Raducanu and Amanda Anisimova have been spending time with each other in advance of the Miami Open.

The 19-year-old Raducanu and 20-year-old Anisimova are both preparing for the WTA 1000 event, with the main draw set to get underway tomorrow.

Aside from training hard on the courts, the pair have also been relaxing by hanging out with each other – at least according to their Instagram Stories.

Raducanu shared a selfie of herself and Anisimova, with the caption: "In Miamiii". She also used the chopsticks emoji, suggesting they were eating Asian food together.

Anisimova then shared a photo of Raducanu looking at the Miami skyline, with the caption: "Amazed by Miami". Raducanu re-shared the image on her Story and wrote: "A quiet Miami corner."

The US Open champion is preparing to compete at the Miami Open after a difficult campaign at Indian Wells. She lost to Croatia’s Petra Martić in the second round, and later claimed the defeat was down to a stiff back.

Raducanu has indeed been blighted by fitness issues since her improbable victory at the US Open in September.

The star became the first ever qualifier, male or female, to earn a Grand Slam title. She won 10 games in a row without dropping a set, and became the first female British tennis player to claim a major since Virginia Wade in 1977.

She was subsequently beaten in the quarter-finals of the Transylvania Open due to illness, before severe blistering on her right hand led to defeat in the second round of the Australian Open.

Raducanu then retired from her first-round match at the Guadalajara Open last month with a hip injury. As a result, she has only won two matches so far this year.

Anisimova also struggled at Indian Wells, retiring from her second round clash against Leylah Fernandez due to illness.

The American has generally impressed in 2022, however, defeating Naomi Osaka in the third round of the Australian Open before losing to eventual winner Ashleigh Barty. She is currently at world number 41.

Anisimova has been drawn against compatriot Shelby Rogers in the first round of the Miami Open, while, as 11th seed, Raducanu receives a bye into the second round. She will play either Czech Kateřina Siniaková or a qualifier.

Raducanu could then face idol and former world number one Simona Halep in the round of 32.
