How can a side that is 12 points clear in their domestic league be on the brink of crisis?

Well, just ask Paris Saint-Germain.

The French club crashed out of the Champions League earlier this month after seemingly being in control in their tie against Real Madrid.

While they may have bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Bordeaux last week, they succumbed to a 3-0 loss to Monaco on Sunday.

It was their third Ligue 1 loss in their last five league matches.

Mauricio Pochettino’s future at the Parc des Princes appears all but over. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe looks increasingly unlikely to sign a new contract at the French club.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has managed just two league goals in 18 appearances since his move from Barcelona.

But what of the other star, Neymar?

The Brazilian has suffered from injury problems this season and has managed just five goals in 21 appearances this campaign.

He, along with Messi and other PSG players, were booed against Bordeaux last week following their Champions League defeat.

And, after L’Equipe revealed the Brazilian is by far the highest paid player in the league, there is going to be even more scrutiny over his performances.

And sensational recent quotes from journalist Daniel Riolo certainly won’t help.

Riolo claims that Neymar is out for ‘revenge’ against PSG and is ‘ruining’ the club by turning up to training ‘almost drunk’ and in a ‘sorry state.’

"Neymar hardly trains anymore, he arrives in a sorry state, almost drunk," Riolo told RMC Sport, per Marca.

"That's the way it is, Neymar is in a spirit of revenge against PSG.

"PSG fans don't give a s**t about Neymar's antics or his Netflix documentary," he added.

"We have to sign his check and let him go. He's doing a lot of damage to the club. Let him go, he is ruining PSG."

Pretty astonishing claims by Riolo. We certainly can’t confirm whether Neymar is, indeed, turning up to training in a ’sorry state.’

Riolo also went on to slam PSG as a club. In fact, he claims they’re ‘no longer a club.’

"PSG are no longer a club," he added.

QUIZ: The ultimate Neymar quiz

"There is no common thread. The coach no longer exists, the president has not said a word.

"After such a disaster, the bolts should have been tightened. But, nothing. Neither from [sporting director] Leonardo nor from [president] Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Nothing. A total defeat."
