Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte could seek a left wing-back upgrade during the summer transfer window amid doubts over Sergio Reguilon's Spurs future, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Conte was appointed as the north Londoners' head coach last November, replacing the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo, and he is expected to make adjustments to the squad he inherited at the end of the season.

What's the latest news involving Reguilon?

There are question marks over whether Reguilon will still be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by the time next season gets underway as Spanish sources have claimed Barcelona are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old and may look to bring him in as competition for Jordi Alba.

As things stand, Alba is the Catalan giants' only senior left-back option and, at the age of 33, he is entering the final years of his career.

Then-Tottenham chief Jose Mourinho signed Reguilon for a fee which could rise to £32million less than two years ago and a return to the Bernabeu could be on the cards in the months ahead.

According to the Mirror, via the Express, Real Madrid are interested in welcoming Reguilon back to the Spanish capital.

The report suggests the La Liga title chasers are keen to trigger their option to buy the Spaniard back for £33.6million, but the clause expires on May 30 and if they offer that sum before the deadline, Spurs will be powerless in their attempts to keep Reguilon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What has Michael Bridge said about the situation?

Bridge believes Conte may have already set his sights on securing the services of a new left wing-back regardless of whether Reguilon departs.

The Sky Sports reporter feels the Italian has doubts over whether the six-cap Spain international is up to the task of operating in his preferred system.

Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: "Spurs could probably do better in that department.

"It's such a key position. You genuinely have to be as good going forward as you are at the back."

What are Spurs' other left wing-back options?

Ryan Sessegnon has operated on Tottenham's left-hand side 13 times since Conte moved into the north Londoners' hot seat.

Spurs forked out £25million to sign the 21-year-old from Fulham, but he has failed to nail down a regular spot in the team.

Having been handed five starts in a row, an injury sustained in the 5-0 mauling of Everton resulted in Sessegnon missing Tottenham's last three matches ahead of the international break.

Ben Davies could be another option to fill in at left wing-back further down the line, but he has regularly been deployed on the left of a three-man central defence under Conte.
