The Premier League season is gradually coming to a close and many of the major signings who arrived last summer have settled into their new surroundings.

Whether it's players who arrived on English shores for the first time or moved between clubs in the top-flight, there has been plenty of time for them to strut their stuff in arguably the world's greatest league.

And there's certainly been a mixed bag of performances with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Jack Grealish not quite reaching expectations in the way that Martin Odegaard and Jose Sa have exceeded them.

Fan ranks Premier League summer signings

So, now that Premier League fans can come up for air in wake of the international break, it feels like as good a time as any to take stock of the summer signings that have either thrived or flopped.

In fact, that's so much the case that one particular football fan has taken the plunge themselves with Twitter user @SakaYPOTY seeking to rank and rate the players that moved last summer.

Calling upon the trusty medium of Tiermaker, the fan has attracted attention online for ranking the summer buys from 'Signings of the season' to 'Flopped so far' with three more categories in between.

The supporter clarified that they only included summer signings and tried to avoid any loan buys, though admitted to wanting to give Armando Broja due praise for what has been a strong year at Southampton.

How the signings were ordered

However, enough with the chit-chat, because we know you want to unpack the fan's final decisions and you can do exactly that by checking out how their Tiermaker shaped up down below:

So, where do you agree, where do you disagree and where do you think they've got it spot on?

Arsenal signings shine bright

It's quite eye-opening to see how many of the most expensive transfers of the summer rank at the very bottom with Sancho, Grealish and Lukaku all coming under fire despite having attracted hefty price tags.

Meanwhile, there could be some indication that the fan in question - named @SakaYPOTY on Twitter, lest we forget - might have some Arsenal leanings given his unabashed support for the club's buys.

Then again, it must be said that many of the Gunners' purchases have come good in a campaign that could mark their return to the Champions League for the first time in the post-Arsene Wenger era.

However, as the Premier League has gone on to show many times over the years, it's too early to either lose your minds over a new signing or to condemn them as a flop before they've even gotten started.

After all, this is the league where Papiss Demba Cisse looked like Ronaldo Nazario at first and Joao Cancelo seemed on course to be a horrendous waste of money. How things can change...
