YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul continues to prod the UFC over fighter pay with his latest shot being directed towards Paddy Pimblettâs UFC London fight purse.
Last Saturday night at the O2 Arena, Paddy Pimblett was arguably the most popular fighter on the card. In what was described as the âpeopleâs main eventâ, the 27-year-old overcame some early adversity and beat Kazula Vargas with a phenomenal first round submission.
The crowd went crazy, Paddy celebrated, and thus, a star was born.
There was speculation that Pimblett had received a pretty nice sum with regards to his pay from the event but as per the man himself, he got $12,000 to fight, $12,000 for the win and $50,000 as a bonus.
Even though fighter pay is an issue that many fans of the sport are familiar with, some still couldnât wrap their head around the figures being quoted by âThe Baddyâ.
Jake Paul, who we all know to be one of the leading voices on this subject, couldnât help but weigh in when he heard the news.
âPaddy Pimblett getting pimped. Who manages these guys?â
With the UFC continuing to go from strength to strength financially, it doesnât seem as if theyâll be doing much to alter their business strategy anytime soon.
When is Jake Paul next fighting?
The official answer to this question is ânobody knowsâ.
âThe Problem Childâ is currently focusing his attention on Amanda Serranoâs upcoming unification bout with Katie Taylor, with Most Valuable Promotions assisting in the promotion of the Madison Square Garden event.
Once the dust has settled on that collision, itâs expected that Paul will return to the boxing ring within a matter of months.
Funnily enough Paddy Pimblett is one of the many fighters who has expressed an interest in competing against Jake Paul in the past. Unfortunately, given Dana Whiteâs disdain for Paul and his constant trash talk in the media, we arenât expecting to see the president allow any UFC fighters to cross over. At least, not if theyâre still under contract with the promotion.
For now, a rearranged showdown with Tommy Fury is the frontrunner idea for the former Disney Channel star.
