Confidence is growing that Leeds United will be able to keep Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips at Elland Road beyond the end of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The duo have been the subject of interest thanks to being among the Whites' star performers, but it appears head coach Jesse Marsch - who only came into the job at the end of last month - could succeed ensuring they remain on the Yorkshire giants' books.

What's the latest news involving Raphinha and Phillips?

Raphinha has been a revelation since joining Leeds in a £17million deal from Rennes in 2020, with the winger racking up 27 goal contributions in 59 appearances.

That form resulted in West Ham United lodging a £50million bid for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window, but the Whites did not hesitate in rejecting the proposal.

The east Londoners do not appear to be Raphinha's only admirers as Football.London have claimed Arsenal may look to add Raphinha to their squad if Leeds fail to avoid the drop, while Chelsea were recently understood to be keeping tabs on the Brazilian.

Barcelona have already made their move by tabling a bid worth in excess of £29million, according to Spanish sources.

West Ham are also keen on Phillips and are expected to return with a fresh offer after £50million proved not to be enough for the Elland Road outfit to entertain parting ways with the 19-cap England international.

Aston Villa are thought to be the frontrunners for the central midfielder's signature as they are prepared to pay up to £60million and offer a lucrative salary, but Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with Phillips as well.

What has Dean Jones said about the duo?

Jones believes there is a distinct possibility that Raphinha and Phillips will still be on Leeds' books by the time the summer window slams shut.

The transfer insider feels the Whites are more likely to cash-in on the former than allow academy graduate Phillips to move onto pastures new.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "Around Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, obviously all the talk has been about where are they going to end up?

"But the latest update is that, at this point, there is a possibility that they will stay, particularly Kalvin Phillips."

Are Leeds in a strong negotiating position?

Raphinha's £63,000-per-week deal is not due to expire until the summer of 2024, meaning Leeds are not necessarily in a rush to sell one of their biggest assets.

But the Whites have suffered a blow in their attempts to negotiate fresh terms as Brazilian media outlet UOL have revealed Raphinha has snubbed the club's opening proposal as he wants his £70million release clause to be reduced.

Phillips' current agreement, worth £38,000-per-week, is also due to run for just over another two years.
