It would be a ‘massive boost’ for Liverpool if defender Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to action soon than expected, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the Reds’ FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest and was forced to withdraw from the latest England squad as a result.

What is the latest news involving Alexander-Arnold?

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that Alexander-Arnold is set to be sidelined for ‘weeks’ after picking up his latest fitness problem in training.

"Trent is out with hamstring so he cannot be part of England as well,” said Klopp. “No good news, we will see how long that takes. Weeks, yeah. It's tricky, we will see how long it will take.”

However, the attack-minded right-back has given the club’s supporters hope that he may be able to return to action sooner than originally anticipated.

Alexander-Arnold shared an image of an exercise bike in a gym via Instagram Stories on his official page (via the Liverpool Echo), including a caption that read, 'the comeback kid' alongside some boxing gloves.

He then went on to display a training ground image from what is understood to be the NAS Sports Complex in Dubai, opening up the possibility of a speedy recovery.

What has O’Rourke said about Alexander-Arnold?

Since making his first-team debut back in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of Liverpool’s most important players.

In 214 appearances for his boyhood club, the creative talent has registered 12 goals and a whopping 60 assists, claiming a Champions League crown and Premier League title along the way.

And Alexander-Arnold has continued to excel for the Anfield outfit in the current campaign, racking up 19 goal contributions in all competitions.

Therefore, O’Rourke believes his potentially sooner-than-expected recovery could provide Liverpool with a significant helping hand.

He told GiveMeSport: “It'd be a massive boost for Liverpool if Trent Alexander-Arnold is fitter sooner than expected.”

Can Liverpool win the league title?

Klopp’s charges are currently sitting just one point behind league leaders Manchester City in the top-flight standings with only nine games of the campaign left to play.

But Liverpool are the in-form team at this moment in time, having won their last nine Premier League fixtures in a row.

The destination of the title could come down to who comes out on top when the Cityzens host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on 10 April and Klopp will surely be hoping to have a fully fit Alexander-Arnold to call upon for that crucial encounter.
