Bruno Fernandes is set to sign a new five-year contract at Manchester United, doubling his wages.

That's according to numerous reports who broke the news on Thursday evening.

The new deal will increase Fernandes' wages to around £240,000-per-week and keep him at Old Trafford until 2027.

Talks between Fernandes' representatives and United have been ongoing for almost a year and now an agreement has finally been met regarding a new contract.

The 27-year-old joined the club from Sporting Lisbon for £47million in January 2020 on a five-and-a-half year deal worth £100,000-a-week. And it's fair to say he hit the ground running.

Last season, he notched 28 goals as he established himself as one of the club's key players.

While his form hasn't been quite so good this campaign, he's still the second top goalscorer after Cristiano Ronaldo with nine goals.

Fernandes will be 33 when his new contract expires and he's previously spoken of his desire to go into coaching when his playing days are over.

"I'm trying to enjoy the football, you know. I think I want to be a coach. Honestly, I would like to be a coach," he told United's official website last year.

"I don't know which team I would like to manage. Of course, the biggest team if I can manage Manchester United, I will be happy. I can leave now just some words so if people see this, if I'm a manager in the future, the fans can make some pressure to bring me as a coach! But I think I would like to be a coach in the future. I'm not sure but for what I feel for football, for the feeling I have, I think I have to continue to be inside of football because my whole life is about this. So I think, in the future, it needs to be with football too."

Fernandes will only be the SEVENTH best-paid player at Man Utd

But despite doubling his salary, Fernandes is still a long way off some of the top earners at the club.

If Fernandes does sign terms on a £240,000-per-week, he would still only be the SEVENTH highest-paid player at the club.

Let's take a look at the full list in ascending order (assuming Fernandes signs his new contract):
