Both USA and Mexico are close to securing their places at the 2022 World Cup.The CONCACAF rivals played out a 0-0 draw in the early hours of Friday morning UK time, a result that leaves them both on 22 points in their qualifying group.USA and Mexico are both three points clear of Costa Rica in fourth and four ahead of Panama in fifth. They also have a much better goal difference than those two nations, which essentially means that victory in one of their final two matches will earn them a ticket to Qatar in the winter. The World Cup will be a far better spectacle with the two most prestigious footballing nations from CONCACAF involved, although their latest encounter was certainly nothing to write home about. There's usually a significant amount of drama whenever USA and Mexico lock horns, but not this time around.Highlights were few and far between to be honest, although there was at least one moment of jaw-dropping magic from Borussia Dortmund starlet Giovanni Reyna. The 19-year-old sensation, who is the son of former Manchester City midfielder Claudio, is one of the jewels in USMNT's crown and he showed exactly what that's the case against Mexico. For 15 seconds in the second half, Reyna transformed into prime Lionel Messi and left opposing defenders trailing in his wake.

Did someone say 'poetry in motion'? He just looks so graceful on the ball and it's a real shame that he wasn't able to fashion a goalscoring chance out of his magnificent solo run that left two Mexico players in a heap on the turf.

USA really do possess some seriously talented youngsters. Reyna, Christian Pulisic, Ricardo Pepi, Timothy Weah and many others will certainly worry other teams if they do indeed qualify for the World Cup in due course.

Reyna's return to form against Mexico will certainly be a huge morale boost, as the 2021/22 season hasn't exactly been kind to him.

Injuries have restricted the teenager to just eight appearances in the Bundesliga and only five of those have been starts.

But hopefully his time on the treatment table is now over for and he can get back to making defenders in the German top-flight look silly on a regular basis.
