Gareth Bale was the hero for Wales during their Thursday night World Cup qualifier against Austria.

The Real Madrid striker, who has been in the spotlight this week due to a scathing report from Spanish newspaper Marca, stole the headlines again last night, netting two sublime goals that saw The Dragons best their visitors 2-1 at the Cardiff City stadium.

And while we know the capabilities of the 32-year-old winger, he reminded us last night of why he is considered one of the greatest players to have ever graced the beautiful game.

If you weren't watching, Bale firstly set the home crowd alight with a 25-yard free-kick that he sent soaring in the top right-hand corner of the goal.

The precision behind the shot is out of this world.

But the former Tottenham star wasn't finished just there.

Soon after halftime, the Galactico grabbed another, netting a very well taken finish from a tight angle, to put Wales two goals ahead in the match.

And as goals go, this one was pretty special too...

Bale's all-time greatest goals

While they are two pretty impressive strikes, they'll be added to a simply stunning portfolio of goals that the winger has scored over the years.

Since he started his professional career at Southampton back in 2007, the boy from Cardiff has gone on to achieve countless honours, including four Champions League titles - the same number as Lionel Messi.

During his career, he's yielded an impressive 183 goals and 140 assists across 538 competitive matches.

Bale in action with Tottenham

And while that could have been more, considering Bale has only played two hours of football in the last six months, there are some absolute beauties on that list, proving why he is an absolute master of his craft.

From scoring perhaps the greatest goal in a Champions League final to his winding run against Barcelona in the 2014 Copa del Rey final, check out the compilation video below, which ranks 10 of Bale's greatest ever strikes.

He really is superhuman, isn't he?

What's crazy is that some of his strikes, like his screamer against Stoke or his long-range effort against West Brom, both rank outside his top five greatest ever goals.

If that doesn't prove that he's world-class, then we don't know what does.

While we don't disagree with the rankings in the compilation, with his bicycle kick in the 2018 Champions League being the undisputed greatest goal in his collection, the highlights reel does miss off his hat-trick of goals vs Inter Milan in 2010.

Announcing himself to the world at the mere age of 21-years-old, this might be one of the greatest hat-tricks ever seen with Bale tearing through the Milan defence to net three sublime finishes.

With his contract set to expire in June, it's fair to say there will be several teams around Europe's top leagues clambering to lock down the Welshman on a free transfer.
