Erik ten Hag is being shortlisted as the favourite to become Manchester United's permanent manager.

The Ajax boss was, per The Telegraph, the first to be interviewed for the position and has appeared to come away from the talks on a positive note.

While he is going head-to-head with current Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino, the Dutchman could well be the successor to interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who will depart Old Trafford this summer.

Having been in charge at Ajax since 2017, the 52-year-old has proved himself to be a fine coach, leading the Godenzonen to two Eredivisie titles, two Dutch Cups, and a Dutch Super Cup in 2020.

He is seen by many as a master tactician for his fast, attacking style of football and recently, an analysis of Ten Hag's attacking formations was posted in a thread on Twitter, highlighting how his 4-3-3 strategy allows his players to create overlaps on the pitch.

While he might be the right man to galvanise Man Utd's style of play, he will also inherit a significantly larger budget to play with compared to the finances he currently has available in Amsterdam.

On one side of the coin, that might be an exciting thought for United fans, who could see the Ajax coach bring in several new players that are suited to his style of football.

Then again, concerns might be raised over his ability to effectively use the large transfer funds United have at their disposal, having not had such a large pot of cash available to him before.

For that reason, The Mirror have released a definitive list of Ten Hag's most expensive transfers at Ajax, and we thought we'd take a closer look at who ranks where on his biggest buys list...

It is pretty ironic that a former Man Utd player should top the chart.

And bringing his compatriot, Blind, back to his former club turned out to be an excellent move for Ten Hag, with the defender being an instrumental player in Ajax's 2019 and 2021 league winning seasons.

Further down the list, there are a number of interesting signings, including Brazilian winger Antony, who has excelled so much during his time at the Dutch side that he is now attracting the attention of big clubs around Europe, including the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona.

Dutch midfielder Promes also makes the list, but was never one of Ten Hag's greatest signings, moving to Spartak Moscow after two seasons in Amsterdam.

And neither did Magallan, who was bought for £8.1m in 2019 but has gone out on loan three times since arriving at the club.

Premier League fans will also recognise multiple other familiar names on the list, including former Southampton forward Dusan Tadic and ex-Everton midfielder Davy Klassen.

Tadic proved to be one of the Dutch manager's best signings and became an invaluable player in Ajax's 2018/19 Champions League run, where he yielded six goals and five assists for the Red and Whites.

Tadic also netted an outstanding 28 league goals claiming the Eredivisie Golden Boot award that year and continues to impress for Ajax, having scored 13 times this season, while also amassing a whopping 18 assists.

The list no doubt makes for interesting reading for Man Utd fans, with Ten Hag's record proving that he has done some very good business in the past.
