Finding the approval of a fanbase can often be a hard task for any Premier League club owner.

Tell that to Manchester United's Glazer family, who have been heavily criticised by their fanbase of late, for some of the decisions the owners have made at the club.

With the Red Devils failing to perform to their expected standards over the past few years, many fans have questioned the judgments of those at the top of the club and are understandably incensed at the lack of on-field results.

With Ralf Rangnick taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in December, United have crashed out of the FA Cup, Champions League, League Cup, and have now also fallen out of the top four, slumping to sixth place in the Premier League table.

Couple that with the reported dressing room unrest at the club and the rumours that several big players could be seeking transfers this summer and you can plainly see that things aren't looking so great for the 20-time English champions.

Even Gary Neville recently took aim at the club's financiers following United's loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

He said to tv2: "I don’t blame Ralf Rangnick, there’s big players in this club, there’s big problems in this club.

"The owners are not good enough. The owners need to sell the club and I’ve said that all season. Something big is missing and it comes from the top."

Scathing stuff from Neville, but he might not be the only football fan in the country who is upset with his club's current proprietors.

In fact, according to a survey conducted by the Daily Mail, there are several clubs around the league whose supporters are less than satisfied with how their directors are running the club.

The poll asked over 100,000 fans from all 20 Premier League clubs whether they supported or disapproved of their current owners and those results have been ranked from best to worst with each owner receiving an approval rating.

And there are some interesting findings coming out of the survey, which you can check out on the list below.

The approval rating of each Premier League owner as ranked by fans from best to worst

20. Brentford - Matthew Benham - Approval rating 98.8%

=18. Leeds - Andrea Radrizzani - Approval rating 98.3%

=18. Aston Villa - Nassef Sawiris - Approval rating 98.3%

17. Brighton - Tony Bloom - Approval rating 98%

16. Leicester - The Srivaddhanaprabha family - Approval rating 97.9%

15. Crystal Palace - Steve Parish - Approval rating 95.7%

14. Chelsea - Roman Abramovic - Approval rating 92.5%

13. Wolves - Fosun, headed by Guo Guangchang - Approval rating 92.4%

12. Man City - Sheik Mansour - Approval rating 90.5%

11. Liverpool - John Henry - Approval rating 88.6%

10. Norwich - Delia Smith - Approval rating 83%

9. Tottenham - ENIC, majority-owned by Joe Lewis - Approval rating 76.3 %

=7. Watford - Gino Pozzo - Approval rating 69.8%

=7. Burnley - Alan Pace - Approval rating 69.8%

5. Arsenal - Stan Kroenke - Approval rating 30.3%

4. West Ham - David Sullivan and David Gold - Approval rating 15.1%

2. Newcastle - Saudi Arabian Public investment fund, previously Mike Ashley - Approval rating 10.9%

1. Manchester United - The Glazer family - Approval rating 4.04%

Astonishingly, less than five per cent of Man Utd fans are in support of their current owners.

That makes them the least popular name on this list, despite the Glazer family helping the club achieve five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during their time at Old Trafford.

It's also interesting to see that Newcastle rank second on this list with their previous and much-disliked owner Ashley selling the club to a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium last October.

And while Everton's new spaceship stadium on the banks of the Mersey is starting to rise from the ground, poor decisions over managerial appointments at the club, an uninspiring transfer policy and now the threat of relegation have left the Toffee's faithful unhappy with Moshiri's tenure at the club.

West Ham and Arsenal make up the top five on the list, with Gunners fans known to be big detractors of their current owner Kroenke, as many have argued that their American backers have failed to provide adequate investment to help them consistently achieve Champions League football.

On the flip side, it's no surprise that fans of Premier League newcomers Brentford rate their owner so highly, with the Bees owner Benham having the highest approval rating of any Premier League club.

Under his stewardship, the south London club have been promoted to the English top-flight, have built a new state of the art football stadium and have frozen ticket pricing for the 2022/23 season.

It's fair to say that there are several owners on this list who might be able to learn a little bit from the Brentford owner.
