UFC president Dana White has reacted to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on national television during last nightâs Oscars ceremony.
With the world watching on Sunday evening, Will Smith and Chris Rock created one of the most insane TV moments of all-time.
Rock, who has been known for edgy jokes in the past, opted to comment on Jada Pinkett Smithâs new hair-do during the broadcast by suggesting he was looking forward to âG.I. Jane 2â.
Jada didnât appear to be particularly impressed by the joke and despite Will initially laughing, the reality of what Rock had said quickly sunk in.
Jada previously decided to shave her head as a result of an ongoing battle with alopecia, prompting Will to stand up and slap Chris on stage.
Later that night the King Richard star won the Best Actor award for his performance in the biopic and subsequently apologised to the Academy for his actions.
As it turns out, Dana White was also watching closely and couldnât help but be impressed by how it all went down.
âFINALLY!!!!! there's an #Oscars show worth watching. AND @chrisrock has a chinâ
Thereâs been a lot of debate regarding the morality of what happened but for the time being, everyone seems to be focusing on just how shocking it was.
Chris Rock has reportedly decided to not press charges against Smith and, in all likelihood, will hope to see the issue fade into obscurity - but somehow, we canât picture that happening.
The fight game viewpoint
Those within the boxing and mixed martial arts bubble have largely reacted in an âamusedâ kind of way to the Smith/Rock debacle. Interestingly enough it comes on the heels of Jorge Masvidalâs assault on Colby Covington and while thatâs a completely different situation, similar discussions have been brought to the surface from both altercations.
Some had asked âwhat would you do in that situationâ and others outright deny that this is an appropriate way to conduct your business.
When push comes to shove thereâs probably going to be blame put on both sides, with this infamous Oscars collision living on forever as a result.
