There is much excitement over the debut of Gable Steveson when he eventually makes his in-ring bow in WWE

The Olympic Gold Medallist officially said goodbye to amateur wrestling last week, leaving his boots in the centre of the mat upon winning his second consecutive NCAA Division I wrestling title. Fuelling speculation of when and how he’ll make his first appearance for WWE.

Gable himself has confirmed his start date with the company, but it seems one pitch for the 21-year-old saw him making a big splash during this weekend’s WrestleMania shows.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE pitched to have Gable take on Omos at WrestleMania 38 in a match where Steveson would squash the Colossus to pick up a debut win.

You don’t know how many people, including those in the company, have suggested or talked about having Steveson debut at Mania and just slam and pin Omos in 20 seconds to get his career going. But that is not the current plan.

Omos is now set to take on Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania, with the former WWE Champion expected to return from injury tonight on Monday Night Raw in time to set up the match.

There is still a huge possibility we see Gable Steveson as part of WrestleMania weekend, with WWE looking to cash-in on his mainstream attraction. Or he may be saved and debuted on the Raw after WrestleMania, which is always notable for big returns and debuts.

Steveson signed with WWE in September 2021, as the first athlete to sign a NIL contract with the company. One month later he was assigned to Monday Night Raw as part of the WWE draft, but he is yet to make his first in-ring appearance.
