Tottenham: £19.8m ace is 'not going to be happy' with Conte

Lucas Moura might push for a move away from Tottenham this summer, according to ex-Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The £19.8m-rated attacker had emerged as a key player during Antonio Conte’s first few months in charge, but the Brazilian has recently lost his place in the side.

What’s the latest news involving Moura?

Prior to the January window, the 29-year-old had been one of the standout players under Conte and was arguably outperforming both Heung Min Son and Harry Kane.

He was directly involved in eight goals in Conte’s first nine games in charge, including a goal and two assists in the Boxing Day victory over Crystal Palace.

Do you know this obscure player Tottenham signed in the January transfer window?

But since the turn of the year, Moura’s form has dropped off dramatically, with his only goal coming in an FA Cup tie against League One Morecambe at the beginning of January, while his solitary assist was almost two months ago.

Coinciding with Moura’s dip was the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski, who’s made an outstanding start to life in the Premier League and has already dislodged the former PSG winger from the side, starting the last seven top-flight games on the bounce.

As a result, Moura has played just 58 minutes across that period of games and Kulusevski’s impact means that it’s difficult to see where his next start is coming from.

What did Palmer say about Moura?

Asked whether he believes Moura might ask to leave this summer if his fortunes don’t improve, he told GIVEMESPORT: “For sure. I don’t think he’s going to be happy not playing. No player is going to be happy not playing.

“You have to look at whether you’ve been playing consistently well, playing well enough to warrant your first team place, and if you have been playing well enough and you’re not in the team, then you’re going to have a discussion with the manager.”

Should Tottenham let Moura leave?

While Moura has often lacked consistency, he’s proved a key player for Tottenham over the years and has been directly involved in 63 goals in his 194 appearances for the club.

He’s generally been a regular starter during the majority of his four years in North London, with little competition on the right.

However, Kulusevski’s arrival has put his Spurs career into major doubt. And with just two years left on his contract this summer, a move away wouldn’t appear the worst outcome for both parties.

It would allow Tottenham to increase their transfer budget, while Moura could improve his game-time after a frustrating couple of months.
