Antonio Conte might not be able to convince Harry Kane to remain at Tottenham this summer, according to former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

Kane will have entered the final two years of his contract at Spurs and is expected to face further uncertainty surrounding his future.

What's the latest news involving Kane?

While Kane is enjoying a fine 2022 on a personal level, his outstanding recent form is only going to continue attracting the attention of the top clubs.

Pep Guardiola confirmed in January that Manchester City saw four bids rejected for Kane last summer, although their interest is now likely to turn to Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, with their pursuit of Kane all-but over.

However, The Athletic believe that the red half of Manchester have now turned their attentions to Kane and have made him one of their top targets this summer, regardless of who their manager is.

United's only recognised strikers are Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo, although both have faced doubts over their own futures.

Kane is set to decide over his future at the end of the season, when it'll become clearer if Tottenham have pipped Manchester United and Arsenal to a Champions League place.

Staying at Tottenham could also hinge on how his boyhood club perform in the transfer market, with the 28-year-old enjoying his time playing under Conte.

But Palmer is doubtful over the Italian's chances of convincing Kane to stay clear of a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What did Palmer say about Kane?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Conte is going to want a lot of money in the summer to put them in a position to be able to challenge for major honours, but whether Conte can convince Kane to stay put, I don't know."

How has Kane been performing this season?

Despite a dreadful start by his own high standards, Kane is now enjoying a relatively decent season having recovered from a tricky opening few months.

Seven goals in his last seven top-flight games has helped him climb to third in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, although his chances of claiming a fourth crown are virtually over with Mohamed Salah already eight ahead of him.

But overall, Kane has still managed to contribute 22 goals and six assists across all competitions, to go with his 11 on the international stage for England.

Therefore, 40 goal contributions in 48 games for club and country is a very good return for Kane in what's mainly been described as an underwhelming season.
