Leeds winger Raphinha's proposed move to Barcelona may still be some way from being completed, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with the Catalan giants recently, and it appears that he is closing in on a switch to the Nou Camp, but Jones doesn't believe the deal is done just yet.

What's the latest news involving Raphinha?

Back in January, it was revealed that Leeds had opened talks with Raphinha and his agent, former Barcelona midfielder Deco, about a new contract to keep the Brazilian forward at Elland Road.

At that point, the Premier League outfit seemed relatively confident that they could convince Raphinha to stay. With the club now battling for survival, though, things look to have changed.

Barcelona have emerged as a potential suitor for Raphinha, and they are hoping to sign him this summer.

It was recently reported that the two clubs had reached an agreement that would see Raphinha move to the Spanish side at the end of the season.

What has Jones said about Raphinha?

The exact fee for Raphinha has not been confirmed, with there being some uncertainty as to whether he has a release clause or not.

Jones is not convinced that he does, and he has also been told that there may still be some negotiating to do before this potential transfer goes through.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “I’m not sure he has a [release] clause to be honest, but we’ll find out soon. Barcelona are keen. From what I understand, it’s not as advanced as some people are saying.”

Do Leeds have any chance of keeping Raphinha?

Never say never, but it looks unlikely.

In his first 18 months in England, Raphinha has been a standout player for Leeds, and looks capable of playing at an elite club like Barcelona, who look set to compete in the Champions League next season.

With the World Cup just eight months away, he may also feel that playing for a high-profile team could enhance his chances of making Brazil's squad for the tournament in Qatar.

Therefore, Leeds could have to accept that they are going to lose arguably their best player this summer, and they ought to focus on getting the best deal possible for Raphinha, and then figuring out how they can try to replace him.
